Reforestation

From the inception of the Trust in 1961, reforestation has been one of its goals. This has been achieved through direct replanting at Sage Mountain and Gorda Peak National Parks with Mahogany and Cedar through the celebration of Arbour Day. During Arbour Day, the Trust distributes hundreds of seedlings to schools and residents.

Education

The British Virgin Islands National Parks Trust is of the mind that an educated public will be more appreciative of what it is trying to achieve.

Scientific Research

The National Parks Trust strongly believes that Parks are to be managed on sound scientific principles. In order to obtain scientific data to make informed management decisions, the Trust collaborates with several reputable agencies and institutions in carrying out scientific research.

One such project is a biodiversity research project at Gorda Peak and on Anegada in partnership with Fauna and Flora International and the Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew.
