PROTECTED AREA NOTICE
NOTICE is hereby given that the Minister for Natural Resources and Labour in consultation with the National Parks Trust under Section 17(1) (a) of the National Parks Act, 2006 (No. 4 of 2006) hereby notifies the public of his intention to vary Schedule 2 by the addition of an area as an amended park or other protected area. The areas in consideration are described as:
1. WESTERN SALT PONDS/NORTH COAST OF ANEGADA PROTECTED AREA
2. POMATO AND RUFFLIN POINTS PROTECTED AREA
3. ANEGADA HORSESHOE REEF, ANEGADA CHANNEL FISHERIES PROTECTED AREAS AND EASTERN WETLANDS PROTECTED AREA
4. THE GREATER BATHS AND TAYLOR’S BAY PROTECTED AREA
5. NORTHERN CAYS & EASTERN JOST VAN DYKE PROTECTED AREAS
To assist the public in understanding the reasons for and purposes of the proposed amendments, pursuant to section 15 of the National Parks Trust Act, 2006, physical copies of the proposals may be inspected at the following locations:
(a) National Parks Trust, 57 Main Street, Road Town, Tortola, Virgin Islands
(b) Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour, Central Administration Building, Road
Town, Tortola, Virgin Islands
(c) Conservation and Fisheries Department, Quastisky Building, Road Town, Tortola,
(d) Government Administration Building, The Valley, Virgin Gorda, Virgin Islands
(e) Government Administration Building, The Settlement, Anegada, Virgin Islands
(f) Government Administration Building, Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Islands
(g) BVI Post, Road Town, Tortola, Virgin Islands
Interested persons may make written submissions to the Director of the National Parks Trust
about the proposals. Written submissions may be accepted at the Trust’s physical office in Road
Town, Tortola, Virgin Islands VG1110.
The deadline for submission is Friday 11 July, 2014.
